About the Author:
"Mary Wine has written over twenty novels that take her readers from the pages of history to the far reaches of space. Recent winner of a 2008 EPPIE Award for erotic western romance, her book LET ME LOVE YOU was quoted “Not to be missed…” by Lora Leigh, New York Times best-selling author.

When she’s not abusing a laptop, she spends time with her sewing machines…all of them! Making historical garments is her second passion. From corsets and knickers to court dresses of Elizabeth I, the most expensive clothes she owns are hundreds of years out of date. She’s also an active student of martial arts, having earned the rank of second degree black belt." (Mary Wine's Website)

About the Book:
In the raw, rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands, tumultuous times bred warrior men and women who fought for country, keep, and kin, and loved as passionately as they lived. An illegitimate son, chosen as laird after the ruling Douglas clan slaughtered his family, Connor Lindsay is surrounded by men who challenge his right to lead. Looking for a virtuous bride to cement his leadership by presenting him with an heir, he kidnaps a feisty laird’s daughter. To keep this Highland Hellcat in his bed, he’ll have to do battle with the Douglases, the Church, and most of all Brina herself.

Review: This Scottish historical is fast moving and fun! Brina, raised to become a Bride of Christ, is spiraled into adventure and love when she is kidnapped by laird Connor Lindsey. Brina's concept of her future pitted against the reality of her situation makes for very entertaining reading. I'm a big fan of Mary Wine's Highland series and this story is a great addition.

  3. I like historicals because they do a good job at taking me away from my concerns of the day whereas a modern-day story might not.

  8. I love historical novels, because I can fantasize about different times, cultures and places. Sometimes it is nice to think about how your life would be in that time period. I especially love when and author gives details about clothes, food and day to day life.

  11. Good historicals can be a way to learn about happenings and lives in the past that definitely still impact actions today. The problem can often be that many times modern attitudes are placed on the characters, and sometimes the history itself is either poorly researched or just blatantly wrong. I haven't read any of her books, so hopefully she hasn't fallen into those traps.
